The Maritime Atlas
Records of the coast, drawn from the archives and set in motion. Nova Scotia first. The other shores as the record allows.

Where the Atlas goes next.
The Atlas goes wherever I find an interesting story from Maritime history.
I’ll keep adding new pages and creating video shorts and Reels about the Maritimes’ strange stories and hidden history.

Every place has a story. Some are hiding in the records.
Nova Scotia has centuries of stories buried in old newspapers, government archives, museum collections, and historical maps. Some are well known. Others have been almost forgotten.
The Maritime Atlas is my attempt to bring those stories back to life.
Using historical records, public data, and interactive maps, I explore everything from shipwrecks and forgotten communities to unusual events that helped shape the Maritimes.
But there’s an important distinction between a good story and a true one.
Every map starts with a source. When the records are incomplete, I’ll tell you. When historians disagree, I’ll show you why. And when something remains a mystery, I won’t pretend to have the answer.
Each project includes a breakdown of the research, the sources used, and how the maps were created. That way, you can explore the evidence and draw your own conclusions.
